Metal Gear Survive Walkthrough | Chapter 4 - The Wormhole Transporter

By Daniel Foster

Explore the far reaches of Dite with this first step into the weird realm of teleportation. In Chapter 4, we're unlocking the first Transporter base.

Spears and fences are a powerful combo.

Chapter 4 sends you deep into the Dust to activate your first Wormhole Transporter — essentially, Metal Gear Survive fast travel points. Transporters are the only way you’ll be able to safely explore deep into the Dust without running out of oxygen, and as you progress deeper into the game, you’ll unlock more and more Wormhole Transporters.

Transporters are an essential piece of the Metal Gear Survive puzzle, and you’ll get lots of optional quests to unlock them. I recommend going for the Transporters whenever they appear, and stocking up to complete their defense missions. After activating a Transporters, you’ll have to defend the area for a few minutes while groups of Wanderers attack. Don’t forget to bring plenty of extra fences!

Metal Gear Survive Walkthrough | Chapter 4

Objective: Reactivate wormhole transporter within the dust

At the start of Chapter 4, you’ll unlock the Wormhole Generator. When you activate other Wormhole Generators on the map, you’ll unlock shortcuts, giving you much more range when exploring Dite.

NOTE: Salvage missions can now be accessed. These are a great way to join friends and earn lots of resources.

Before setting out, you can construct the Burke Pistol if you picked it up from the Dust outpost in Chapter 3 – it was located in the Memory Board room, inside a large container. To build a pistol, construct an Advanced Weapon Workbench. You’ll also want to restock on water – grab dirty water from the watering hole near your base, and repair your weapons. You can also strengthen your melee weapons or construct Molotov Cocktails. Lures and Molotov Cocktails are a crazy deadly combination.

Travel southeast of Base Camp and enter the Dust. Just through the Dust, you’ll find a small abandoned base with the Wormhole Transporter. Look for a blue light to find it in the Dust. The moment you activate it, you’ll have to defend it. The reactivation sequence takes time, and you’ll have to defend the base until it is reactivated.

Don’t miss the large container in the Transporter base.

Recipe Location: Unlock the large container in the room at the first Wormhole Transporter to find a Survival Bow recipe and Survival Arrow recipe.

Before initiating the sequence, block the single open entrance with Defense Units. A Wooden Barricade and a Normal Fence should be enough to hold out for the 2~ minutes. Make sure you also check the back-right corner of the base. A group of wanderers will attack from here too. If you don’t rush to take them out, you can easily be overwhelmed.

Bring extra Defense Units to block both entrances, and try to place them before the wanderers break through. You can also wall off the Transporter itself if you’re really in trouble. When the timer is up, all nearby wanderers will instantly die, and you can safely return to base.
